THE HERITAGE of LINGANORE HIGH SCHOOL
The class of 1963 was the first graduating class of Linganore Junior and Senior High School. Carlton L. King, a 1963 graduate of Linganore, designed the school’s seal. Mr. King’s goal, when designing the seal, was to pay tribute to Linganore High School’s Native American heritage (Linganore translates to “left ear”) and capture the school’s scholastic philosophy.
To show honor to our Native American ancestors, the symbol of a Native American warrior and two lances were used as the focus of the seal. Mr. King then added the appropriate symbols to portray Linganore High School’s educational philosophy.
